MAKE, Liverpool Biennial fringe
Rope unravelled and knotted in reef knots to create a nautical mile, bones
Installation

A nautical mile of unravelled and re-knotted boat line, looped between fourth floor high rafters of dockside warehouse MAKE, for Liverpool Biennial fringe. Cut from the end of my boat line crossing the country; unravelled to its finest point and re-knotted in reef knots to make a nautical mile, during a month lying on the boat floor following an operation after a road accident.

It is the trace of a physical journey and of a month long feat of endurance, and describes a pilgrimage whilst standing still and personal unraveling and remaking.

The location in a partly derelict, once magnificent dock mirrors the entropic post-industrial wasteland where the rope was cut.
